Faina is the first intern at the International Barents Secretariat
The IBS has recently started its internship programme. The first intern is Faina Usova from Syktyvkar,
, Russia. She is a fourth-year student of international relations at the
Syktyvkar State University
Faina started working in the Barents sphere in 2007 at the “Scientific week in Syktyvkar”. In 2008 she took part as a volunteer at the 4th Parliamentary Barents conference and at the Barents Euro-Arctic Council Committee of Senior Officials meeting. After that she applied for internship to IBS. In the future she hopes to continue to work within BEAC.
The main tasks for Faina as an intern at IBS are to practice in writing protocols, to keep updated on the activity of the Working Groups, update the official web-page and some other help to the IBS members.
- For me it’s a great experience to work in such a huge international organization as BEAC. The role of it increases in the region and it’s very interesting to see what has already been done and what is being planned. Moreover it’s perfect to be involved in this process. For me it’s a good lesson as well to live and to work in a multinational atmosphere. I’m proud to be the first intern at IBS, says Faina Usova about her impressions from the internship.
The main possibilities for an intern at IBS are to be involved in interesting work in multinational surroundings, to see the coordination of the international organization from inside and of course to practice language.
IBS is planning to have two interns each year. IBS welcomes students and specialists who are interested in the Barents Region, can write and speak in English and in one of the languages spoken in the Barents Region (Russian, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Saami or other Barents indigenous languages) to apply for internship.
