New face at the International Barents Secretariat
The Secretariat got a new team member in August, thanks to a contribution by Finland.
The International Barents Secretariat is very happy to welcome Päivi Kuvaja as a new adviser with the Secretariat. The position has been made available through a contribution by Finland, the incoming BEAC Chairmanship. Päivi will support the Barents cooperation in its work related to youth, education, culture and indigenous issues.
The Barents cooperation is nothing new for Päivi, she has previously been represented in the Barents cooperation on a regional level through the Regional Council of Lapland. She has also worked with several development projects in various sectors in the Barents region. She comes from the position as executive director in Taito Lappi craft association.
"I have always been very interested in the unique Barents cooperation, and I look very much forward to supporting the Chairmanships and the Working Groups on Youth, Education, Culture, Indigenous Peoples and contributing to upcoming Barents Youth Summit”.
